Trophies Taken During The 2007 South Dakota Whitetail Season
This is guide Rod Fortuna's son Nolan, hunting with him was guide Randy Odenbach's son Gaige. This was a very exciting hunt as the guides and their sons stalked to within 223 yards of this management buck. This mule deer as you can see lacks width on his horns but has the heighth and mass.
This is Bobby Maples from Alabama with his 2007 Archery buck taken at 4:00 in the afternoon on the third day of his archery hunt. Bobby placed his own stand in a scrape line that he found while going to an already existing stand. Bobby grunted this deer in at 16 yards before drawing back on his Hoyt bow and harvesting this great archery buck.
This is Jim Batson and his son Jim Batson Jr. These deer were taken about 300 hundred yards from each other. Jim was sitting in a ground blind and his son was sitting on the ground on a bald hill overlooking a small dam. Young Jim's deer was shot at 10:00 in the morning on the second day of his hunt sitting with guide Randy Odenbach at a 175 yards. This was another great shot on this buck. His dad's buck was taken the next afternoon at 210 yards sitting with his son in a ground blind. And this also was another great shot on this buck.
This is Doug Renfro from Alabama. This buck was taken on the second day of his hunt around 4:30 in the afternoon sitting with guide Randy Odenbach. They were sitting in a bale pile overlooking an alfalfa field. The deer was harvested at 150 yards. Doug made a clean shot on this buck. He was walking broadside till guide Randy Odenbach grunted and stopped the buck in his tracks. That’s when Doug dropped the hammer on this heavy horned buck. Great job Doug!!!!
This is Sam Fullerton from Virginia. His deer was shot out of a tower stand at 363 yards chasing a doe. This is a nice 9 point buck with 13 and a half inch G2's and 23 and a half inch main beams, what a buck!!!! This also was an exciting hunt. His deer was shot at 1:30 in the afternoon on a clear day around 40 degrees. His deer was taken on the third day of his hunt. Sam is a patient hunter and cashed in on a very nice 5 1/2 old buck. Good job Sam!!!!
This is Mark Brown from Virginia with guide Rod Fortuna. This was an action packed hunt as the deer was bedded not far from where Mark harvested this deer. Mark made a clean shot on this deer broadside at 250 yards with his custom made Jarret rifle around 4:30 in the afternoon on the second day of his hunt. They were hunting in a creek bottom with no ground blind, only the cedars behind them for cover. Great buck Mark!!!
